LILEE Systems to Develop Smart City and Smart Transportation Systems in Taichung, Taiwan

On August 11, 2017, Taichung City Major Chia-Lung Lin led a delegation of City Hall officials and Taiwanese businesses to visit LILEE Systems in Silicon Valley and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formally beginning corporation between Taichung and LILEE Systems and development of smart city and smart transportation systems in Taichung. Mayor Lin’s visit was a great encouragement to Jia-Ru Li, CEO of LILEE Systems, who was born and grew up in Taichung and has made LILEE Systems the market leader of U.S. rail control and safety systems. Coming a long way from Taiwan to visit LILEE Systems, Mayor Lin hoped to rely on LILEE’s experience and expertise in the industrial IoT space to turn Taichung’s Shuinan Smart City into the model of smart cities, and together build the Greater Taichung smart city.

Taichung City Major Chia-Lung Lin and LILEE Systems CEO Jia-Ru Li signed a MoU, formally beginning corporation between Taichung and LILEE Systems and development of smart city and smart transportation systems in Taichung.

Mayor Lin led a delegation to visit LILEE Systems to learn more about its advanced technologies in industrial IoT and smart transportation. LILEE’s solution includes hardware, software, and services and ensures an always-on connectivity for passenger services and operations while equipped with real-time vehicle monitoring and tracking through LILEE T-Cloud management platform to achieve fleet safety and operational efficiency. As the market leader of rail control and safety systems, LILEE has provided its solution to over 69% of North American railroads. Knowing LILEE’s success in the U.S., Mayor Li took the opportunity to visit LILEE and signed the MoU on the cooperation of the two parties and development of Taichung smart city and smart transportation.

During the MoU signing ceremony, Mayor Lin stated that Taichung has become the second largest city in Taiwan. With the fast growing of population, it must cope with challenges such as traffic congestion, water pollution, air pollution, and the need of more medical care, education, and jobs. Information technologies and innovative services together are the drivers of city transformation.

The Taichung City Government will build the smart city from a wide range of aspects, including smart manufacturing, transportation, energy, building, law enforcement, and home services. Since 2015, the government has actively promoted smart city projects from the smart transportation’s perspective and by building the Shuinan Smart City as a demonstration pilot, with the support of government policies and infrastructure development. The City Government has also partnered with international enterprises by learning from and applying their success to move these projects forward.

The MoU signed between Mayor Lin and LILEE Systems will enable the two parties to begin collaborating on the design and development of Taichung smart city pilot projects with a sustainable business model. For the 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition, based on the infrastructure blueprint, LILEE Systems will deliver smart cities solutions that will help the Taichung City Government achieve real-time traffic monitoring and bus fleet management, as well as improve law enforcement response time to emergency situations. The cloud-based, centralized management platform developed by LILEE Systems will continue to provide valuable big data and analytics to be the engine of the Taichung’s Shuinan Smart City pilot project, and in the long term, successfully build the Greater Taichung smart city.

LILEE Systems provides advanced technologies in industrial IoT and smart transportation and is the market leader of U.S. rail control and safety systems.
