WHAT: In her session, “PTC Big Data: Implementing an IoT Data Management Platform,” Paola Realpozo, director of rail strategy at LILEE Systems, will address how big data and IoT technologies are helping rail operators manage assets more efficiently while ensuring safety. Big data is a reality for railroads. Onboard assets and wayside equipment are part of the internet of things, interconnected, and constantly generating enormous amounts of data. It is paramount to look at the IoT value chain to maximize the benefits of the collected data to provide better operations and passenger experience. New communications technologies will play a key role to enable railroads to establish challenging yet critical train-to-ground communications to achieve this goal.
